Happy 19th Anniversary Hubby!

So when I sat down to make an anniversary card for hubby this year I realised I didn’t have a stamp set that was really appropriate for him (birthday cards yes, but not anniversary).  His biggest love at the moment is his new Mac Pro computer – he strokes like it’s a precious jewel!!  I then had the idea to whip up something Apple related for his card and what better tool for that than the Cricut Explore!!!  I found a simple Apple-style logo and downloaded it on to the Cricut Design Space software and in a few very quick steps I cut the letters and the apple from thick black card.  A good layer of Glossy Accents on the apple gives it a gorgeous shiny appearance.  Perfect!!

Avery Elle – Signature Dies

Hi there!  Sharing some simple cards I made using the fabulous new Summer release from Avery Elle.  I’ve used the Signature dies to emboss a “frame” onto the front of the card panel and (one of my favourite stamps from this collection) the diamond from Many Thanks to create cards for those “milestone” anniversaries (emerald, sapphire and ruby).  The sentiment is from  So Happy.

Signature dies 1If you haven’t used your dies to emboss before then it’s very simple to do.  You will need to get yourself a rubber or silicone mat and then play with the levels of your die-cutting machine to see what combination works best (I have a Bigshot so I use the multi-purpose platform (top layer off), a rubber mat and then the two cutting plates as a sandwich). What you will end up with is the shape of the die embossed rather than cut all the way through.  It opens up all kinds of new possibilities with your dies – I squealed the first time I used this technique!!!!

Thanks for stopping by today.
