CLEAN AND SIMPLE

We are showcasing HERO ARTS PRODUCTS  this week. You don’t have to use them to join in but if you have some we would love to see them used

As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store

I recently picked up the Hero Arts Stamp Your Own Cactus stamp set and couldn’t wait to play!  I love the images and little cacti arrangements seem to be everywhere right now!  At the moment I’m pretty obsessed with Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers.  I have just added to my collection with a third set, the Florals one.  To colour my image on today’s card I used pens from the Primaries and Essentials sets.

I started by stamping the first cactus (the larger one) in India black Versafine ink (a great ink for using with watercolour techniques) onto water colour card and then masked it and stamped the round cactus as well as the pots.  I coloured the images in using the pens as water colours (scribbling on a mat then adding water and painting with a brush).  I added a very diluted wash of the aqua colour around the image and a grey wash for the shadow.  Although you can’t see it, there is a little Wink of Stella on the cacti too – well why not?!

Make A Wish!

April 2015 CK

Hello there!  I FINALLY got a chance to play with the SCRUMPTIOUS Simon Says Stamp April Card Kit!  I’ve been so busy over the Easter holidays with quite a few deadlines to meet and my poor kit sat there on the perimeter of my desk calling me “use, me, use me”!!  So, as soon as I got a minute I pulled it out and had a play.  I have another couple of cards in progress (shame work has to go and spoil things – humph) but this is my first one so thought I’d get on with sharing it.

I LOVE the foiled kraft papers in this kit – I don’t think this gold trend is going anywhere soon!  I used one of my new acquisitions – the Pretty Pink Posh Sitched Banner Duo die to die cut the centre panel.  I stamped the candle from the fabulous stamp set included in the kit onto vellum  (I LOVE this stamp set!!) and embossed them in gold and then created a little shaker window with some yummy sequins from my chum Lucy (see Lucy’s new Folksy shop for these sequin mixes – they are fantastic!).  For my inky background panel I gathered my distress inks and blended and blended until I had a really intense orangey design.  I splattered some Heidi Swapp gold spray and love how it kinda looks like bokeh?  Or is it me, lol!!  Finally I stamped and embossed the big sentiment from the stamp set on the bottom and adhered the lot to a top folding A2 card base.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Avery Elle / Chameleon Pens Blog Hop

Hello – we have a fabulous blog hop celebration going on all week at Avery Elle.  We have teamed up with Chameleon Pens and every day both design teams are bringing you loads of inspiration with a chance to win some amazing prizes.

I have been playing with the Pastels set of pens and used the Cupcake stamp set.  I started with a Kraft card base from the Natural notecards pack and used one of the flowers from the Cupcake set to stamp a subtle background in Versamark ink.  I coloured the cupcake using the Bubblegum Pink and Bisque pens and chose a red Copic for the cherry!  Although it’s difficult to see I gave the frosting a coating of glossy accents and then stamped the greeting to finish.  I die cut the panel using the smaller frame from Finished Frames and mounted it on the base card.
