Avery Elle Fall Release 2016 Blog Hop

Woohoo!  At last the Avery Elle Fall 2016 Release is here!  You should have arrived from my fabulous friend Karolyn Loncon’s blog but if you want to start from the beginning then scroll down for the full hop line up.
Well I’ve been dying to get started on my Christmas cards and the Fall release is always my favourite one of the year.  This release has SO many amazing sets in it, there really is something for everyone.  I’m also pleased as punch to have 3 sets in there too – I hope you like them as much as I enjoyed designing them!!
First up I have Dear Santa.  I love the old fashioned, retro styles going back to the Fifties and Sixties and this crazy cat was very much influenced by those images.  I kept the hat separate so it can be used all year round, not just for Christmas (like in my second card below).

Next is Retro Ornaments (are you sensing a theme here, lol?!).  I remember the gorgeous old glass decorations that used to hang on the tree when I was little.  I loved the ones with the concave bits especially, they really take me back!

Lastly I have Kitsch Christmas.  I ADORE  little vintage deer ornaments and really wanted the set to be reminiscent of those.

So my take on the “wild” theme is inspired by the fabulous “bouquet” series of floral stamps from WPlus9 – they’re stunning.  I went for the Ranunculus – you can’t argue with a word like Ranunculus, can you, lol?!  I stamped the flower in Versamark then heat embossed it in white.  For my choice of water colour medium I went with my Zig Clean Colour Markers – LOVE them so much, such strong, bold colours.  You can’t really see it, but I added a shimmer of Wink of Stella around the flowers rather than on them, just for a change!  I used the Custom Panels dies from Avery Elle to cut a curve on my water coloured panel and stamped the sentiment using the amazing With Sympathy set (also from Avery Elle) in Fog dye ink.  I finished with a few strategically placed sequins and some twine.

Simon Says … Fabulous Florals

I’m keeping it clean and simple this week with pops of colour using a tried and trusted combo of shades (see below) and the stunning Colour Layering Large Orchid from Hero Arts.  The top layer is also heat embossed in clear which adds a gorgeous extra detail to the flowers.  To keep the look crisp I die cut the Hugs sentiment (Avery Elle) in white and finished with a smattering of Doodlebug Sprinkles.
