Hooray!  It’s time for the brand new Summer 2016 release from Avery Elle!  You should have arrived here from my fun-lovin’ and fabulous friend, Karolyn Loncon‘ s blog.  If not go back to the Avery Elle Blog and start from there!

There are so many amazing new products being released today – I know you’re going to LOVE the hop and seeing the design team’s gorgeous creations.  The product I’m featuring today is one of three new stamp sets I’ve designed for this release along with a fun die set that compliments the theme perfectly.  This is a die collection I’ve been NEEDING in my collection for a long time and I’m so happy to finally have it.  I love all things ocean-related and as you may or may not know have a particular passion for sharks!  Well I have my sharks (Hello Chum) and now I have The Reef.  I was inspired by my love of The Great Barrier reef where I learned to dive and wanted to be able to create some pretty, underwater themed cards for my fellow sea-loving friends.   The dies came from my desire to have a coral/sea-weedy backdrop and these Coral Reef dies give me the ability to layer to my heart’s content!!

Avery Elle Spring 2016 Release Blog Hop!

It’s finally here!  The Spring 2016 Release from Avery Elle is available to buy NOW!  I’m so excited about this release (not just because I have a fabby new stamp set featuring the most awesome creatures in the whole world ever) but because Jamie is introducing two amazing new product lines as well as an array of totally fabulous stamps and dies.  By the time you finish this blog hop you won’t know where to start!  You’ll want it ALL!  You should have arrived here from the awesome Karolyn Loncons blog but if not you can head back to the Avery Elle blog so you don’t miss out on any of the fun!

So onto my cards.  Today I’m proud as punch to be showcasing my latest stamp design called Hello Chum.  This is a set I’ve wanted to create since FOREVER – I’ve had a love affair with sharks since I was 6 years old and in particular with the Great White (I blame JAWS!).  I have dived with sharks up close and personal in Australia but diving with a GW is top of my bucket list!  I wanted this set to be a bit different though – I didn’t want the sharks to look cute, I wanted them to be menacing (but still happy!).

As you may have suspected, JAWS is one of my all time favourite movies and the sentiment “We’re Gonna Need A Bigger …. CAKE!” is my homage to that film!  I created this card after being inspired by Kathy Racoosin on Day 1 of the current Daily Marker Challenge.  The woodgrain effect is made using the Woodgrain and More stamp set.

The next couple of cards feature the other shark image from the set.  I coloured them with Copics and used the brand new dye inks also being released today – they are amazing!  I’m also in love with the large Tag die from this release (A Tag For All), I think I’m going to be making LOTS of use of this one!!

Avery Elle Winter Release Blog Hop

Yaaaayyyyy!  It’s time for the brand new Winter 2015 release from Avery Elle – woohoo!  You should have arrived here from the wonderful Karolyn Loncon’s blog, Paper Therapy but if not you can back to the beginning HERE!!

This is such a fabulous release with 9 new stamp sets and loads of new ELLE-ments (dies) too.    I’m so excited to be introducing a couple more stamp designs to the Avery Elle inventory in this release and today I’m featuring a set called Mardi Gras.  I wanted a masquerade-themed set that would let me go to town with embellishments and bling!  When it comes to Mardi Gras there’s no such thing as too much bling!!  You can decorate the mask with the stamped images or of course add your embellishments of choice such as rhinestones, feathers, sequins, ribbons, glitter etc, etc.

My first card is so sparkly in real life but of course, trying to capture that in a photograph is impossible (for me anyway) – you’ll just have to take my word for it!!  The set includes a string of beads so I first created my background by stamping and heat embossing a curtain of beads using Silver Tinsel powder.  I die cut a banner in silver glitter paper and my mask, ribbon and flourished from white (which I stamped and embossed also).  I painted the mask with a solution of Perfect Pearls (in Perfect Pearl!) to give a silky appearance and when dry added some rhinestones (the kind that come in a strips)!

My next card is just a bit more colourful!  I stamped the mask and coloured it with Copic markers (I added the diamond details with the little images also included in the set).  I adorned it with a Fleur De Lys and then added some Glossy Accents for some shine.  Again I used a variety of Avery Elle inks to create my beaded background and mounted the mask onto the Scalloped Pierced Heart dies also from the new release.
