Hello again. I’m back today with one more card before the Clearly Besotted February 2015 release goes live tonight at 10pm BST. Today I’m featuring the amazing Sketched Blooms stamp set and it is beautiful. I fell in love with this set as soon as I saw it and knew it was screaming to be watercoloured. This time I went with distress ink rather than water colour paints. I used Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry (I think they’re probably my two most used distress colours), dabbed them onto a craft sheet and then spritzed the ink with water. I stamped two large and one small flower in Versamark onto Tim Holtz water colour paper and then heat embossed them in white before die cutting them. I then coloured the flowers in quite loosley to give a pretty, delicate tint. I repeated this for the leaves using Peeled Paint distress ink. For my card base I wanted to have more than just a plain base so to echo the softness of the flowers I cut a panel out of an A2 Neenah white card base and “joined” the front of the card back together with a panel of thick vellum. By anchoring the flower cluster over the gap the card is given back it’s strength and so doesn’t collapse.
I stamped the Hello sentiment also from the set (LOVE that font) in Fog pigment ink from Avery Elle (such a gorgeous shade of grey). To finish the card I added a few splatters of Mister Huey Calico Shine and a few wee sequins (because … sequins).
Thanks for visiting – I really hope you’ve enjoyed this release and I can’t wait to see the cards around blogland once they start shipping. Don’t forget to check out Steph and the rest of the design team for lots more inspiration.
This is so soft, feminine and lovely.
Stunning bunch of blooms 😀
Gorgeous card! I absolutely love the CAS design and the cluster of flowers! They are beautiful, Caryn! Have a wonderful weekend!
Caryn, I am a huge fan of Debby Hughes and was busy admiring her tulips and she mentioned you and what an amazing watercolor you were working on, so I thought I’d pay you a visit. Well, I haven’t been here before, and you have absolutely knocked my socks off! WOW, you are an amazing artist. Before I wrote this I spent time going back through your blog (I’m only through April 2014 so far…) and I’m sold. First I bookmarked your blog (I check all of my favorite artists every evening after the grandchildren leave, that’s why the bookmark) and I am also a new subscriber. Just wanted you to know that Debby gave you a wonderful introduction and that I am completely in awe of your work and talent. Thank you so much for sharing it with us! Hugs…
Wow Kelly – I don’t think I’ve ever had such a lovely comment before – thank you so much for taking the time to write it. I am also one of Debby’s biggest fans – she’s so talented AND one of the nicest people on the planet! I don’t know how to find you (do you have a blog – I’d love to visit) hence the reply here – hope it gets to you.
Thanks again, you’ve made my day xxx
No, I’m not talented enough or brave enough to have my own blog. Basically, I just follow a few marvelous artists and copy their work. Although copy is not exactly right, my work is a far cry less beautiful than theirs. Thank you for your reply, I know how busy you must be. Thank you again for your kindness and when you speak with Debby again, tell her about the crazy old lady that thinks she too is a fantastic artist! kf4116@yahoo.com
I think this may be my favourite card that you have made this release, Caryn. It is stunning! 🙂
Gorgeous card, love the CAS design, the vellum panel and the beautiful blooms!
