MFT Guest Designer – getting my Christmas on! (plus a giveaway)

What’s that you say??  64 days till Christmas??  Just as well I’ve had some yummy new products from the MFT October release to play with to help me along with my Christmas card projects!  Yay, I’m super excited to guest designing this month over on the My Favourite Things blog and today I have the first of 6 projects to share with you.

I adore the new Winter Wonderland stamp set and thought the Snow Drifts cover plate would make the perfect backdrop for my mountain village scene!  I used the cover plate to cut some glitter card and adhered it in place on my card front (minus the frame).  The houses, deer and trees were stamped, die cut then coloured with Zig Clean Colour Markers and arranged with over top with plenty of foam tape.  To finish I cut two banners using the Die-namics Tag Builder Blueprints 4 and white heat embossed the sentiment – also from Winter Wonderland.

My second card just makes me happy – I give you, Buddy the Elf (in paper form)!  My absolute favourite Christmas movie of ALL TIME is Elf and so instead of using the Santa Suit Die-namics for Santa, I’ve made Buddy’s suit.  I started with a green card base and cut the suit elements from gold, black and green card.  His suit has some gold detail so I used some of the smaller elements from some of the new stamp sets from this release and gold embossed them. The collars are cut from felt too – fun!!!

The last of my projects for today features another AMAZING set called Snow Flurry (psst, scroll down for details about you can win this stamp set ;).  I went a bit crazy with watercolour paints and white embossing powder and LOVE the end result!

Avery Elle – Fa La La

It’s Avery Elle post day on my blog and today I’ve been mostly blending Distress inks!  Yes, I’m getting addicted – I can’t stop.  I used a combination of Festive Berries and Spun Sugar to create the base of my card and added some spritzing of Perfect Pearls solution and extra distress ink. The wreath from the Fa La La set was stamped and die cut twice – once in Celery pigment ink and once in Jungle.  The banner was stamped in Cherry ink and die cut.  To finish I popped the die cuts onto some foam tape and adhered everything to a white card base.

I’m starting to feel very Christmassey already – it must be all the festive cards I’ve been making lately, lol!

Thanks for stopping by. xxx

MFT Card Contest … well, why not!

Hello there – I’m sliding in a couple of cards I made after being inspired by the fabby contest going on over at My Favourite Things!  I recently had a bit of an MFT shopping spree after the new release just came out so this was the perfect chance to test drive a few of the latest products!

My first card features the Die-Namics Stitched Cover Up Companion (try saying that after a few Proseccos!!) paired with what could quite possibly be one of my favourite stamps ever – that wee surprised gnome is just adorable!  I used the Brick Wall stencil to create my sponged background using distress inks.  I used the same colour palette to colour the flowers and the gnome himself.  I think this cover up die is SO useful.  I can see me using it TONS!

Happy Birthday

As soon as I saw the samples the MFT design team made with the Soda Pop Bottles Die-Namics I knew they were going to MINE!  I have a friend who LOVES coke so was dying to make a card for him for his birthday.  The background was sponged with Distress Inks in Pumice Stone and Gathered Twigs.  To create the “bubbles” I just flicked on some water – so chuffed how it turned out!

You're a ClassicPrint

I wish I had time to play with these goodies a bit more but the deadline to enter the contest is fast approaching and I’m sadly out of time!  If only I could craft 24 hours a day!!
