Ellen Hutson Pinsights Challenge – Pantone Attitude Colour Palette

I recently made my first purchase from Ellen Hutson.com and boy are their products amazing!  I picked up a few sets and most of the Catherine Pooler Inks – can’t wait to get stuck into them!  I got to playing and noticed the current Pinsights Challenge – how could you not be inspired by that colour palette?

Anyhoo, here’s what I made.  The first card was created by blending Distress Oxide Inks on Tim Holtz watercolour paper then spritzing with water and some Heidi Swapp Gold Lame colour shine.  I then overlaid the panel with the MFT Sun Ray stencil and applied white gesso over it.  While that was drying I stamped the image from Mermaid Tail in vermark onto vellum and heat embossed it with Gold Tinsel embossing powder from Ranger.  I chose the sentiment from Avery Elle’s Mermaid stamp set anf heat embossed it in gold Avery Elle embossing powder.  I assembled everything onto the card adding some gold thread and a few rainbow sequins here and there.  Sweet huh?

My second card uses the stunning Mondo Peony stamp set from the Essentials By Ellen line.  I stamped the large image in gold embossing powder the used Zig Clean Colour Brush Markers to add loose areas of colour randomly across the image.  I then sprayed it quite heavily waith water and blended it until I was happy.  It did go in the bin at one point because it looked a hot mess!  I grabbed it out again though and played with it some more and actually was quite happy in the end!!  I added a good spray of shimmer mist to it before fussy cutting it out and putting it on a 4 bar sized card. To finish I added a strip of gold and die cut the happy from Avery Elle’s Sentimental Too dies and the birthday from the co-ordinating stamp set.

Ellen Hutson/Avery Elle Watercolor Mini Blog Hop

Hello!  We are so excited to be hopping along with our friends at Ellen Hutson today.  We are featuring projects using our NEW Liquid Watercolors and are SO excited to show them off in action.  Avery Elle’s liquid watercolors come in 10 gorgeous shades that can be used on their own or easily mixed together to create custom colors.  For an intense shade use the watercolors straight out of the bottle.  If you want lighter shades, just add various amounts of water to get the color you desire.  The possibilities are endless.  Be sure to check out all of the details of the hop as well as how to be entered to win one of TWO FULL SETS of our Avery Elle Liquid Watercolors over on the Ellen Hutson Classroom Blog.

So let’s carry on with the hop.  You should have arrived here from the amazing world of Julie Ebersole (major fangirl here).  If you’re lost and want to get back to the start, the list is all the way down at the bottom of this post!

I have been having SO much fun with these watercolours since I got them and just love their versatility.  If, like me you’ve jumped on the latest alcohol ink trend then I you may be interested to know that a lot of similar, but more subtle results can be achieved with these water colours.  Grab a cuppa and watch this short video to see what I mean 🙂

Avery Elle … SPLASH

Hey there,I’m over on the Avery Elle Blog today starting off a week of inspiration featuring the Splash clear stamp set and co-ordinating Elle-ments.  Lately I’ve been having a LOT of fun with the new Avery Elle Liquid Watercolours (look out for a video coming very soon) and have created a perfect backdrop for my chilled out bathing beauties!

I used a thin Yupo paper (picked it up on Amazon) and spritzed it with a fine spray of water before adding Aquamarine liquid watercolour onto it with a paintbrush.  I wasn’t too careful or precise as I wanted the background to have some movement and appear more … watery!  The paper was put aside to dry naturally which does take a bit of time so it’s a good idea to create a few background panels in advance so you have them on hand and ready when you want to put a card together!
I stamped a couple of ladies and their floaties of choice onto Neenah white cardstock and coloured them with Copics and then die cut them.  I glued the dried watercoloured panel onto a white A2 card front (landscape orientation) and then added the ladies and a few clear droplets here and there.  I finished of by cutting a strip of aquamarine coloured card and white heat embossed the Birthday Wishes sentiment from the Critter Crew set and tied it off with some Aquamarine twine.
