Avery Elle … Tough Guy

I’m up on the Avery Elle Blog today sharing a card I made using the new Tough Guy stamp set from the Summer release.  This is such a cool set for making those much maligned cards for men.  I used my favourite paper pad of all time (Everyday Collection) and coloured my strong man with Copics.

Make It Masculine

Father’s Day is on 21st June, so this challenge is dedicated to creating something for the men in our lives. You don’t have to make a Father’s Day creation, anything masculine will do !

We are showcasing CAS-UAL FRIDAYS and WAFFLE FLOWER Products this week. You don’t have to use them to join in but if you have some we would love to see them used

As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store

Eek – not the dreaded masculine card, lol!  I know a lot of us card makers aren’t all that keen on making masculine cards as they tend to be less fussy, less “pretty” and don’t often give us as much freedom to get really creative as cards for fefmales do (but that could just be me, lol) .  I recently picked up this woodgrain paper pad and love it for giving a good amount of detail and texture but still be able to keep it CAS and masculine-looking.  I stamped the bow from the Waffle Flower Bowtiful stamp set in fog ink on three different wood papers and also covered the cream base card with a darker one for contract.  The sentiment was stamped in Versamark ink and then I heat embossed it with a cream powder.  The bows were die cut and mounted on foam adhesive to finish – simples!!

My Hero – Clearly Besotted

Hello – back for day 2 of the Clearly Besotted May release previews and today I’m focussing on a sentiment set for all the men in your life called My Hero.  Steph released a girly version of this last month called Sugar and Spice so it’s nice to have one for the boys!!  I’ve made a couple of cards for my two most important men – my husband and my son.  As you can see I have really gone to town with the stripes this month!  Once I started stamping them I couldn’t stop.  My first card is for my hubs.  I probably don’t tell him as much as I should but I kinda like him!  We’re celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary in July so I guess we must be doing something right!!

My second card is for my AWESOME boy, Daniel.  He makes me so proud and I could not wish for a better son!  He’s clever, creative, handsome, caring, and just a bit cheeky!  He makes a good cup of tea too.  For the background I used the “Laura Bassen smooshing technique” with Spectrum Noir aqua markers.  I took a large acrylic block and a rainbow of aqua markers, scribbled my colours onto the block and then gave it a jolly good spritzing of water.  Then I laid my water-colour cardstock down onto the block and pressed it down well.  When you (carefully) lift the paper up you will hopefully have a nice “smooshed” rainbow pattern like this.  I used a Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangle die to cut my panel (once I’d let it dry obviously) and then stamped the “Son” three times with the various sentiments in between.  I used my MISTI again to get everything perfectly lined up.  I finished off with a few stamped stars from the Blast Off II set.

Be sure to pop back again tomorrow for more teasers and check out the rest of the team – they’re ON FIRE again this month!
