Unicorn love <3

I have 4 daughters so it was inevitable that unicorns would feature in my life from time to time (in the case of one of them, lets say there was a time she was OBSESSED!).  Even though she’s older now and not QUITE so unicorn mad I still can’t pass up a unicorn stamp set and this one from Neat and Tangled is a MUST HAVE!  There’s something about the way the main flows that I just love.

I created the background using distress oxide inks and added little die cut stars cut from glitter cardstock.  The circular mat in the centre is from Simon Says Stamp.  The unicorn is coloured with Copics with some extra glitter added to the tail and horn – obvs!

#GetCrackingOnChristmas – MARCH

Yes it’s the third Thursday of the month again (wait, what??  REALLY?)  and that means time for another festive little number to help you along with getting a headstart on your Christmas craft projects.  Dreamed up by Jenn Shurkus, Cheiron Brandon and Chari Moss the idea is to create at least one Christmas card a month so that there is slightly less of a panic come Christmas time!!  I’m joining in again this month along with the awesome Libby Hickson

For today’s card I pulled out some older supplies and went for a rustic look with lots of kraft and copper glitter card.  I used the Splendid Stags dies from Newton’s Nook and added some glitter foliage using the Tim Holtz Mini Greens dies.  The background was done using the Simon Says Stamp Gingham Cling background stamp with Kraft pigment ink from Avery Elle.  The Joy was die cut using a die set from Avery Elle (Peace Love Joy) which is now retired.

Avery Elle … Mermaids

Hey, I’m over on the Avery Elle Blog today kicking off a week of inspiration with a (slightly sinister) creation featuring the Mermaids clear stamps and Elle-ments.  My wicked streak couldn’t help but pair this cute, sweet-faced little mermaid with one of the hungry sharks from Hello Chum!  I don’t think she realises what’s about to happen but I’m definitely humming the JAWS theme right now!

I stamped and coloured the images with Copics and added some bling to the mermaid with Diamond Glaze and Avery Elle glitter on her hair.  To build my scene I used the Burst dies to create a window using wood-effect cardstock and added some blue vellum behind it so it gives the effect of looking through water.  I stamped a few images from Hello Chum (waves and fishes) onto the vellum and then adhered the shark slightly off-centre.  I die-cut some coral using the Coral Reef Elle-ments and made a small banner for the “Let’s Do Lunch” sentiment.
