MFT Card Contest … well, why not!

Hello there – I’m sliding in a couple of cards I made after being inspired by the fabby contest going on over at My Favourite Things!  I recently had a bit of an MFT shopping spree after the new release just came out so this was the perfect chance to test drive a few of the latest products!

My first card features the Die-Namics Stitched Cover Up Companion (try saying that after a few Proseccos!!) paired with what could quite possibly be one of my favourite stamps ever – that wee surprised gnome is just adorable!  I used the Brick Wall stencil to create my sponged background using distress inks.  I used the same colour palette to colour the flowers and the gnome himself.  I think this cover up die is SO useful.  I can see me using it TONS!

Happy Birthday

As soon as I saw the samples the MFT design team made with the Soda Pop Bottles Die-Namics I knew they were going to MINE!  I have a friend who LOVES coke so was dying to make a card for him for his birthday.  The background was sponged with Distress Inks in Pumice Stone and Gathered Twigs.  To create the “bubbles” I just flicked on some water – so chuffed how it turned out!

You're a ClassicPrint

I wish I had time to play with these goodies a bit more but the deadline to enter the contest is fast approaching and I’m sadly out of time!  If only I could craft 24 hours a day!!

I recently picked up this fabulous die set, the WPlus9 Pear Stackers from Simon Says Stamp and thought it would be perfect for an engagement card for my twin sister Susan who announced last week that she and her lovely boyfriend Pete are getting hitched next year! Woohoo!!!  I’m SO excited for them – and for the rest of us – who doesn’t love a good wedding?!!

I know it’s not your typical engagement card but I’m pretty sure she’ll appreciate it – they do make a perfect pair!  I started by sponging some Gold Delicata ink onto a panel of white card and then spritzed it with some Heidi Swapp Gold Lame spray.  I inked the edge of the panel with the gold ink too and stamped and embossed the sentiment in Ranger Gold ep.  I die cut the two larger pears and sponged on some Spun Sugar and Mowed Lawn Distress ink.  For the mottled effect I spritzed on some water and a few spots of the gold spray.  To finish off I added a bundle of gold thread underneath the pears and added some sequins for added bling!

Avery Elle: Polar Pals and Snow Much Fun

Good Monday to you!  I’m on the Avery Elle blog today with some projects using two cute stamp sets and dies from the latest Fall release .  Heather designed all of these amazing products (she’s a clever cookie that girl 🙂

I used the Snow Caps die collection on both cards and a combination of images from Polar Pals and Snow Much Fun.  These sets all go together so beautifully and give so many different options.  I die cut all my elements and added colour to the mountains, sea and sky using distress inks.  The rest of the colouring was done with Copics.  As a finishing touch I added some Stickles to the snow hills – you know Christmas is coming when the Stickles comes out to play!!
