Get Cracking On Christmas (In July) Blog Hop

Hey there – you have no doubt hopped along here from the fabulous Libby Hickson’s blog but if you’re looking for the start of the hop jump over here to Jenn Shurkus’ blog.

If you’re wondering what this is about well it was an idea thought up by Jenn, Cahri and Cheiron way back at the end of last year.  They decided it would be fun to challenge themselves to create a holiday card every month so they would have a small batch ready before the usual last minute rush!  I thought this was an awesome idea so I have been playing along too!!

The idea of today’s hop is to encourage you to pull out some of those unloved supplies and create something for Christmas.  As the sun shines outside it’s actually quite comforting to think about those long, dark nights all snuggled up in front of the fire (my favourite time of the year 🙂 )

So onto today’s card …

I grabbed the Sunny Studios Merry Sentiments and Holiday Style stamps sets to create this festive little number!  I used Catherine Pooler Inks and my MISTI to make the fabulous two-tone lights and place my sentiment – where would we be without our MISTIS???  To finish off I covered each of the lights with Glossy Accents for a little extra something!!

If you get inspired to create a holiday card don’t forget to share it by leaving a link in the comments or tag us on Instagram using the #getcrackingonchristmas.

The next crafter on the list is Emily Midgett so off you pop and happy hopping!!!

Avery Elle … Indigo

Hey there.  I’m over on the Avery Elle Blog today with a card featuring the gorgeous Indigo stamp set paired up with one of my favourite Avery Elle stamps – the shark from Sea-Prise!

I created a panel for the front of the card by stamping the border stamps from the Indigo set  all together in Versamark then heat embossed in white.  I then blended some of my favourite Distress Oxide inks over the embossing for a resist effect.

Next I stamped the shark using Fog dye ink and coloured him in using Copics before die-cutting him.

To finish I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from Banner Bits and layered this up with some patterned paper and some washi tape.

Avery Elle … Sea-prise

Hey there, I’m over on the Avery Elle Blog today with a fun card using the fabulous Sea-Prise stamp set.  I’ve combined it with the Indigo stamp set and sentiments from the Hello Chum set that pair perfectly with the shark image in this set.

I stamped the the background on the base card using all the stamps from the Indigo set in black and the sentiment inside one of the border designs.  Inside I stamped the rest of the sentiment and Happy Birthday.  I stamped and coloured the shark and then placed him popping out of the Star burst die cut and adhered it to the front of the card.
