Simon Says Stamp June 2015 Card Kit – I’ve played at last!!

June-2015-Card-Kit-600

My goodness, where are these weeks going??!  I’ve had this amazing kit sitting on my desk for days but have only just managed to have a play with it!  I LOVE it so much – it’s one of my favourites so far (although I think I say that every month, lol).  I die cut one of the new MFT circle dies and whilst the die was still in place used a series of masking steps to get the stripes.  I used the Ranger dye inks (which I LOVE) and they blended beautifully!

Well thanks for popping by – hope I get to play a wee bit more with this kit this week so watch this space!!

This week’s challenge was the perfect excuse for me to get inky with some gorgeous distress inks and the FANTASTIC new Flamingo dies from My Favourite Things.  I just love these flamingos – I have a real thing for them (and so does my daughter Olivia – she’s obsessed!).  I love this Vine stencil from The Crafter’s Workshop, I’ve used it many times and thought it would make the perfect backdrop for my birds.  I blended some Cracked Pistachio and Tumbled Glass distress inks onto my card front panel with a mini ink blending tool keeping it heavier at the bottom and fading towards the top and stamped the sentiment from the co-coordinating MFT stamp set, Tickled Pink in Versafine black Onyx ink.  Once that was done I sprinkled a little Sea Foam mist from Heidi Swapp to give a little texture and shimmer.  The flamingos were cut from a couple of shades of pink cardstock and I added a little shading to the wing with a Copic marker and finished with some Wink of Stella clear .  For a wee bit more interest I added a panel of vellum between the card base (a Sea Glass notecard from the Carribean Collenction by Avery Elle – don’t know what I did before these!!) and my card is done!!

I just got a bunch of new goodies this week from MFT so this challenge was perfectly timed!  I fell in love with the new You Gnome Me set and thought the small brick stencil would make a perfect background.  I used Distress inks in Fired Brick and Old Paper to stipple a brick effect onto some white card stock and then stamped and coloured one of the gorgeous gnomes in Distress markers.  I die cut the flowers and stems from the Spring Garden Die-namics set and paired it up with a little fence and grass from Taylored Expressions.  The frame was cut from woodgrain cardstock using the Stitched Rectangle dies from Simon Says Stamp.
