Avery Elle … Embellished Heart Die

Hey there! This week on the Aver Elle blog we’re featuring the gorgeous   Embellished Heart Die.  I love when I can get more bang for my buck so this die is a great investment as it can give you a multitude of looks.  The die cuts an embellished aperture from your material leaving the “positive” heart die cut.  Simple to create to totally different cards with no waste!

I started by die cutting a piece of self adhesive wood veneer paper.  (you can pick something similar up at Ellen Hutson HERE).  This gave me the negative part with the aperture and detailed border and also a heart from the centre.  I used similar supplies for both cards so whipping them up didn’t take very long at all.

For the first card I started with an A2 card base and carefully centred the die cut wood veneer to the front.  From the card I created last week using the Three Hearts Die (HERE) I had the white hearts left over so used a couple of them on these cards (tip – always keep your die cuts – you never know when they’ll come in handy).  I lightly brushed some Orchid pigment ink around the smaller heart to let it pop off the card a little  – it’s subtle but it adds a lot of texture.  To bring the elements together I bunched some gold thread and held it down with some adhesive and popped the inked heart die cut onto it with foam tape.  I created the sentiment using the new Simple Sentiments stamp set, heat embossed with white powder and then die cut using one of the co-ordinating dies.  I added a few tiny black gems to tie the black sentiment in.

For the second card I used the Embellished Heart die again and die cut it from a white panel off-centre.  I popped this onto a white A2 card using foam tape and then adhered the wood veneer heart into the space and trimmed off the overhanging edge.  I grabbed another of my leftover hearts from my last card, the same gold thread and another white embossed sentiment and finished off this time with some gold Stickles around the edge of the heart to accent the thread.

Get Cracking On Christmas November 2018

Yes, it’s the 3rd Thursday of the month which means it’s time to Get Cracking On Christmas #getcrackingonchristmas.  You can read all about the inspiration behind this challenge HERE but it’s really just a fun idea designed to get us making our holiday cards in plenty of time so we’re not rushing at the last minute.  Make sure to pop over and visit my fellow crafters joining in Jenn Shurkus, Cheiron Brandon and Chari Moss

This month I have been playing with the new release from Avery Elle and thought these wee cacti from the Stuck on You set would look very smart dressed up for the holiday season.  I knew straight away that the Santa hat from the Dear Santa stamp set would fit these wee guys perfectly.  I stamped and die cut some sprigs of holly from the same set too and grabbed a sentiment from the Quirky Christmas stamp set from last month’s Avery Elle release.  I kept it simple with a strip of striped paper from MFT and a thin strip of red glitter Washi tape.  Some glitter glue dotted here and there and the card is done!

Whilst I had my Dear Santa set out I was inspired to create another card.  I love the Strands die from Ellen Hutson so started with this and created a panel for the front of the card and adhered some glitter paper behind it  for some mega bling.  I stamped the Plaid background from Concord & 9th onto a white card base using Strawberry pigment ink from Avery Elle.  I stamped, coloured and die cut the cat from the Dear Santa set and added her to the card from and finished it off with a sentiment from the Vintage Ornaments set.

Get Cracking On Christmas October 2018

Hey there, finally getting a chance to play along with this month’s Get Cracking On Christmas Challenge.  In case you’re new to the idea, it was dreamed up by my crafty pals Jenn Shurkus, Chari Moss and Cheiron Brandon as a way to save the last minute rush of making Christmas cards.  Throughout the year we’ve been sharing a Christmas card idea every third Thursday of the month and this time I’ve gathered some scrummy supplies and made not one but 2 cards!

Both start with a red card base onto which I stamped the Plaid Background Stamp from Concord and 9th in black ink.  I love Buffalo plaid so this is one of my favourite combos and I’ve used it before HERE.  On the first card I die cut some foliage pieces using the Tim Holtz Holiday Greens dies and the took the sentiment dies from the Season of Cheer collection from Concord and 9th.which I die cut from wood-effect paper from Seven Hills Crafts.  I bundled the die cuts together and added them to the card with a glue dot and finished it off with rustic twine bow and a touch of Distress Stickles here and there.

The second card uses some dies from Avery Elle and Newtons Nook.  I used Wonky Frames in both the Square and Circle designs and created my frames.  I backed the square frame with glitter paper and adhered it to the card base.  The bow was created using the new Wonky 3D Bow dies from Avery Elle and the stag head is from Splendid Stags by Newtons Nook.  I heat embossed the sentiment from Quirky Christmas from Avery Elle in white to finish.
