Avery Elle Summer 2019 Release Blog Hop

SUMMER 2019 RELEASE

Hey AVERY ELLE fans – the BIG BLOG HOP DAY has arrived and I’m SOOOO excited to be able to bring you some fun cards showcasing some of the new designs available now in the store.  The brand new SUMMER 2019 RELEASE is spectacular and I think you’re going to LOVE all the fab new products we have to share.  I’m a little proud today as I’m sharing one of two new sets I’ve designed and yes, you guessed it – it’s SHARKS!  Well, a shark and a Manta ray to be precise!  The Celeb-RAY-tion set is illustrated to match perfectly with my first shark themed set, Hello Chum and even uses the same font on the sentiments so you can mix and match to your hearts content! I’ve also used a couple of the new die designs which I absolutely LOVE.

Ps.  Make sure you scroll right to the bottom for details on how to win some goodies for yourself!

The first card uses the cute manta rays from Celeb-RAY-tion and the gorgeous new Dotted Frame Die. I also used the Coral Reef dies to create a quick and simple but effective underwater scene for the rays.  I die cut the Dotted Frame once in aqua and then in white.  I wanted to blend some inks onto the white panel from the centre to make it appear more watery.  I used Distress oxides then added splatters of another of our amazing new products, the Clear Shimmer Spray.  You can see how this gives a beautiful pearly shimmer to the card – it’s so pretty in real life.  I stamped, die cut and coloured the rays and assembled the card using foam tape and our brand new Liquid Adhesive. Lastly I added some Snowball Droplets from Ellen Hutson.  They make the perfect bubbles!!

The second card is so fun – he wobbles!  I added a wee video below so you can see him in his shimmery, googly-eyed, wobbly glory!  I die cut the waves for the background in aqua cardstock using the brilliant new Summer Scene dies.  Then I stamped and die cut the shark from Celeb-RAY-tion and coloured him with Copics before adding a Mini Action Wobble to him (available at Ellen Hutson).  I gave him a festive, birthday look with a hat and a cake and added some seaweed and more of the Snowball Droplets before finishing off with another good spritz of the Clear Shimmer Spray.

Watercolouring with Zig Clean Colour Markers and the Mondo Holly stamp set from Ellen Hutson

Hey there, I’ve managed to grab some time to crack on with a few more Christmas cards and my most recent purchase is the stunning Mondo Holly set from the Essentials By Ellen range from Ellen Hutson.  I just LOVE Julie Ebersole‘s designs and have built up a few of her sets in my collection now.  I couldn’t wait to get my inky paws on this one.  I even managed to create a video to go along with it!  I ended up just adding some festive music as I have a stinking cold right now and my voice would just be TOO ANNOYING!!

I started with a stone coloured card base and stamped the Wood Plank background stamp from MFT (not Woodgrain as I called it in the video – oops) using Desert Sand ink from Memento.  I also stamped the Holly image in the same ink onto some Arches water colour card so I could go for a kind of no-line water colour effect.  I used Zig Clean Colour markers and a water brush to add the colour and when it was die cut I used a glue pen to add highlights of frost with Ranger Rock Candy Distress glitter.

I used the Desert Sand ink again with a blending tool around the edge of the image to mute down the brightness of the white water colour paper I used and I think this gives a nice vintage touch to the over all style of the design.  I added a die cut circle, also with a blended edge under the holly to help it pop off the wood grain background a little.

To finish I stamped the sentiment using Avery Elle Truffle dye ink and added some rustic twine around the top for that cozy, festive touch!

All supplies are linked below using affiliate links at no cost to you.  I couldn’t find the Wood Plank stamp in the store so I have linked to another fabulous woodgrain background stamp from The Stamp Market.

Thanks so much for stopping by x
