I confess – guy cards are my nemesis!  I struggle SO much to create something masculine and almost always find myself crafting under pressure the night before any male birthday or celebration to create a card because I’ve just put it off and put it off!!  Even my card today doesn’t scream “masculine” to me!  I just had to add that little gold heart – it wasn’t right without it, lol!!
I used some distress inks with the Rays stencil from Tim Holtz on watercolour card and then stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from Many Messages by Clearly Besotted.  I did try to be masculine – just not sure I pulled it off, lol!!

Simon Says TAG IT!

wed-newchallenge-header

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

Thank you for joining us for the Make Your Own Background Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is ,,,,,,,,

TAG IT

you can make a tag or add a tag to a card/project.

We are showcasing TIM HOLTZ PRODUCTS this week. You don’t have to use them to join in but if you have some we would love to see them used.

As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store

Rather than make a tag I made a card and trimmed off the corners to make it LOOK like a tag.  I punched a hole at the top and threaded through some twine (tip: cut a small slit in the fold of the card and thread the twine through it before tying at the fold – means you can still open it!!).

I used the Holiday Knit stencil and a few shades of blue Copic marker in the Spritzer tool to lay down the pattern on my card.  I then went over it with a sponge blender and white pigment ink.  I die cut the new Clearly Besotted Merry Christmas dies and Snowflake die three times from white cardstock and glue them together before adhering to the card front.  I finished it all off with a few clear sequins.

Tag It

Hop you manage to grab some time to play along this week.

You’re “Sew” Kind

Hello again – back with another card featuring one of the new stamp sets from the Clearly Besotted’s September release called “Sew Special”.  This set has a gorgeous dress form image and lots of other handy little haberdashery-themed bits and pieces – so pretty.

First I created the background using distress ink pads by pressing them onto an acrylic block and then spraying with water and then stamping down onto a piece of water colour paper.  The distress inks blend beautifully and you end up with a gorgeous water-coloured area for your focal image.  Once that had dried I stamped the dress form and sentiment in Versafine ink and finished with a couple of pearls.

Sew Special 1Make sure you check out the rest of the Design Team for more inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by,

Caryn xxx
