Simon Says … Not a Card featuring Tim Holtz

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the Add a Heart Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

Not a Card

We are showcasing Tim Holtz Products this week. You don’t have to use them to join in but if you have some we would love to see them used.

It’s always fun to create makes that aren’t cards. I love to make favours and gifts for different occasions so thought this was a great opportunity for a cute wee Valentine make.

I started by creating some matchboxes using the Tim Holtz Vault Matchbox Sizzix Dies using white card for the inner box and pink for the sleeve. I used the Layering stencil Shifter Diamonds to to create a sheet of patterned cardstock using Candy Apple Red Distress ink and Spun Sugar Distress ink. I splattered it with Picked Fence Distress Spray and once dry used the die from the matchbox die set to cut the panels for the top of the boxes.

For a little surprise inside I used the Faceted Heart die from Vault Rosette Dies from red card and coated them with a layer of Distress Resist Spray to add a bit of shine. To decorate the front of the boxes I used a few different things. One was an Ideaology Salvaged Heart which I covered in metallic leaf in red. I hot glued this to the front of one box. On the other two I used little wooden embellishments I have had in my stash for YEARS! I painted them red and added Glossy Accents for shine and dimension! You could achieve this same effect using stacked die cuts also.
